BILD works towards improving the quality of life of people with learning disabilities. The multidisciplinary membership network enables professionals, carers and parents to play a major role in the development of new ideas and improved working practices. The education and training section organises a range of staff training programmes and conferences. The publications unit publishes a large selection of books and periodicals for professionals, carers and people with learning disabilities. The information & resource centre provides an extensive database on learning disability resources and publications and a well-stocked library of books, journals and training materials. BILD is involved in a range of research, consultancy and service development projects, often in collaboration with government departments and statutory and independent service providers.
