The world's largest independent organisation for emergency medical aid, MSF provides humanitarian assistance to victims of disaster and war anywhere in the world, irrespective of race, religion or political affiliation. MSF relies on donations from the general public and non-governmental sources to carry out its independent work. This independence ensures msf is allowed to work where other agencies sometimes cannot. All of its expatriate field staff are volunteers who work closely with local personnel. Over 200 British and Irish Doctors, nurses, surgeons and engineers from MSF (UK) leave on volunteer field assignments each year.
